In the 2000s, he worked in the oil and gas system of Ukraine. He was awarded a certificate of honor by the National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine. Researched energy security, international energy relations, oil and gas sector, unconventional hydrocarbons, energy sector reforms, and global energy markets. He was an expert in the Ukrainian part of intergovernmental commissions on economic cooperation with Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.

Since 2007, he has worked in the non-governmental sector, first as the head of the Nomos Energy Program and the Kiev office of Nomos Analytical Center, and in 2009, he founded and headed the Strategy XXI analytical Center for Global Studies.

Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Black Sea Security" (since 2017). Author, co-author and editor of a number of books and publications on energy, energy security, international relations, published both in Ukraine and in Poland, Slovakia, Germany, Great Britain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Finland, etc.

Since 2016 - member of the State Committee for Industrial Policy. He has the status of associate expert of the Razumkov Center and the Center for Russian Studies.

On July 29, 2019 he was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
