He served in positions from commander of a motorized rifle platoon to chief of staff at the corps headquarters. In 2004–2005, he was deputy commander of the Multinational Division Central-South in the Republic of Iraq.
He completed his service in the Armed Forces in 2010 as head of one of the departments of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In April 2014, he left the occupied Crimea.
He was directly involved in the anti-terrorist operation from April 2014 to March 2016. In 2016–2019, he worked as adviser to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
